As a key member of numerous multi-billion-dollar acquisitions, integrations, and initial public offerings, Matt guided top organizations across industries including Utilities, Financial Services, Healthcare, Insurance, High-tech Manufacturing, and Alternative Energy to evolve their cultures from within to meet the challenges of an intense global marketplace. Later he joined Heidrick & Struggles, where he transformed companies into healthy, thriving, high-performance organizations as a partner leading its Culture-Shaping Practice for the Americas.

Matt brings this invaluable CHRO and other executive-level experience to his work consulting for senior leadership teams today, helping them excel amidst rapidly changing regulatory environments, shifting technology platforms, and growing competition. 

Matt’s corporate and consulting success is informed by a deep and detailed understanding of principles for organizational health, growth, and high performance: He earned an M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Southern Illinois University and a Ph.D. (ABD) in Organizational Theory from St. Louis University.

A proven culture specialist with a practical, outcome-driven approach, Chad Carr knows that sustainable transformations start and end with effective executive partnerships. That’s why leaders seeking rapid, reliable results look to Chad’s uniquely balanced perspective, honed over more than 25 years leading from both within and outside some of the world’s largest organizations. 

After driving major transformation as the Chief Learning Officer, VP of Operations, and Divisional HR Leader at Fortune 500 companies such as Andersen Worldwide, Deloitte, Sears, and L Brands, Chad began consulting with executives to drive their culture transformations – most recently as a partner with Heidrick & Struggles. He specializes in helping leaders in the Consumer Goods, Financial Services, and Technology industries articulate strategy, develop purpose and values, and create healthy, high-performing cultures that unlock strategic value. 

Chad earned an MBA in Leadership in Organizations from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems from Penn State University. Prior to his roles in corporate leadership and consulting, Chad was a tenure-track professor of Instructional Technology at Northern Illinois University, a Research Fellow at The Open University of the Netherlands, and a research and teaching graduate assistant at Penn State.
